Mixology & Cocktail Classes in Detroit

Hands-on cocktail classes taught by the bartenders who have been making them since 2011.

What to Expect

What You Get in Every Class

Step behind the bar at one of Detroit's original craft cocktail bars. Sugar House classes are small-group, hands-on sessions where you learn techniques, taste spirits, and make drinks alongside the bartenders who created them. Every class includes all spirits, mixers, garnishes, craft ice, and real glassware — you drink what you make.

Our Classes

Three Ways to Learn

100 Level

Fundamentals

Start from zero. Classic cocktail technique, the building blocks of a balanced drink, and how to think like a bartender. No experience required. If you can hold a glass, you can take the class.

200 Level

Topical Deep Dives

Focused explorations of a single category: aperitifs, amari, tiki, stirred spirit-forward, forgotten classics. Each 200-level class picks one topic and goes deep. Best for drinkers who already know the basics.

Enthusiast

Whiskey & Spirits Tastings

Occasional sessions led by our whiskey team. Brand history, distillation regions, and guided tastings through single-barrel picks and rare bottles. No cocktail making. Just drinking and learning.
